Barbara Woods Hand-Painted Silk Lamps with Ceramic Base
Barbara Woods of Woodsilks Studio works out of Santa Fe, NM. All of their work is one of a kind hand-painted on silk using resist and dyes. The designs are applied by hand without the use of stencils or screens. The silk is steam set and washed for maximum color fastness. The silk painting is mounted on layers of white styrene, shaped and edged with suede and rayon trim. They are held together with removable grommets and formed to fit snug in a specially designed wheel thrown ceramic base built by a local potter.

Her subject matter derives largely from the observation of light as it is transmitted and reflected throughout the natural world. Further inspiration is derived from the unique quality of moonlight, desert landscapes and the movement of light underwater. After all, it is the manipulation of light and color that most often gives nature its dramatic beauty.

Each piece includes either an 11 or 15 watt fluorescent bulb. Do not exceed these wattages. They all range in heights from 35 inches to 39 inches.
