Blue Plywood Mirror

This beautifully handcrafted plywood mirror measures approximately 31" tall and 17" wide. The mirror measures 22.5" tall and 10.5" wide.

The artist notes on his technique stating, "Usually plywood is hidden in the construction, painted or stained to obsure its appearance. I have found plywood to have many interesting properties that have been overlooked by most people. My goal as an artist is to bring out these intrinsic qualities. People are surprised by the aesthetic appeal that is revealed by laminating and carving this stigmatized material. The mis-conception that plywood is an 'ugly' wood disappears when a viewer appreciates the pleasing glue lines and the colorful interior veneers. The sensual shapes, accentuated by the concentric black glue lines, seem to come alive with movement. A mundane material is transformed into something exotic that invites appreciative scrutiny."
