John Furches

John Furches is an expert etcher. An etching is an original print made from an etched plate. A plate can be made of either metal, wax or rubber. It is not a reproduction but an original work of art. Using a fine pointed tool a sketch is made through the surface of asphaltum zinc plate. An aquatint is a form of etching involving an acid resistant adherent. Aquatint is a technique to produce prints with the effects of printing whole areas rather than just lines. Typical for aquatint is are the finely dotted areas.
